Hack: Age of Luigi

As an entry for the 2024 Hackjam, I decided to try out "Age of Luigi," a hack that imagines a world where Luigi has taken over while Mario was away. This time around, I won't be recording all of the entries like I did in the past. Some hacks are too challenging or frustrating for me to attempt, so I'm being selective.
The first level is called "Die to Win." It's a bit tricky as a starting level, but overall enjoyable. I left the secret exit for later since I wasn't sure how to access it at first.
Next up is "Forest of Bad Apples," which is exactly what you'd expect - a level filled with bad apples. The secret exit here was interesting; I found it by randomly crouching on the ground. My original plan was to collect all the dragon coins, but that turned out not to be the key.
"Ball 'n' Chain Torture" features a concept I've seen before in another hack called Nonsense. This level is fast-paced and fun.
"House of Misfitting Themes" is an okay level, not my favorite in the hack but still decent overall. The boss can be a bit tricky.
In "That's No Ordinary Fire Flower," there's a textbox introduction that appears every time you die in the first section, even though there's a retry option in the level. This got annoying quickly, especially since the text room eats up a lot of time. I ended up using a save state to bypass this issue. Other than that, the level was good.
"One Plumber Versus an Entire Army" is another autoscroller, featuring a popular gun sprite that's been showing up in several hacks lately. The level is decent, but one setup requires quick reflexes and can be inconsistent at times. The ending of the level is amusing, though.
Finally, we have "CASTLE LUIGI The Green Thunder," the end level. Unfortunately, it's a bit anticlimactic and not as exciting as I had hoped.
Overall, "Age of Luigi" is a decent hack, but not the best I've played from this contest. However, it's still enjoyable, and I had fun playing through it.
